Jalapeno Grill & Cantina at 503 West Grand Avenue, Escondido, California.

A solid 3 stars. Pretty good food, but nothing spectacular. On the slightly expensive side, value-wise.

Ambiance was casual, service was good.

Wife and I both ordered Prime Rib (she; petite, me; house). Came with soup or salad (chicken tortilla which was quite good), jalapeno cheese mashed potatoes (wife really liked, I thought they had little flavor).

Good Prime Rib. Creamy horseradish was good, I got straight horseradish. About what you'd expect.

Wife got a kahlua cocktail, I got Cadillac margarita...both good, followed with a Negra Models with dinner.

Total cost was $70, a little on the high side, we both thought.

A combination of bar and restaurant. The place is quite small and would fill up fast. There is outside seating and the restaurant interior is cozy and nice. The food is typical Mexican in taste. Price is o.k., not to expensive with decent selection
